Michael Tomsa

Michael S. Tomsa concentrates on intellectual property disputes and procurement, including complex patent litigation related to electrical and mechanical technologies.

As a registered patent attorney with the US Patent and Trademark Office, Michael also drafts and secures patents covering a wide range of technologies, including unmanned aerial vehicles and small unmanned aerial systems, computer software, computer hardware, computer networking, cellular telephones and other electrical and mechanical technologies. He is also experienced in drafting and prosecuting ex parte and inter partes requests for reexamination, including numerous petitions for inter partes review under the America Invents Act.

From 2007 until his graduation from law school, Michael worked as a patent agent and technical advisor at Katten. In those roles, he gained significant experience in prosecuting patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office and assisting in the preparation of legal opinions regarding patent infringement and validity.
