Plaintiff sued the City of Chicago and 14 retired Chicago Police Officers for wrongful conviction. The firm represented the police officers. During discovery, the police officers discovered that the ... innocence pardon granted by the Illinois Governor was more the result of politics than actual innocence and, as a result, petitioned the court to take the deposition of the person at the Governor's Office who made the recommendation. The judge agreed. Thereafter, following a three week jury trial, the jury found in favor of the police officers. The Seventh Circuit affirmed the decision of the jury.
