Nicholas R. Johnson

Nicholas Johnson is an associate in the environmental department at Lathrop & Gage. Mr. Johnson is an environmental litigator and corporate counselor with experience in all facets of environmental law and corporate environmental risk management. Mr. Johnson’s litigation experience includes both contested proceedings and general regulatory guidance and advice with respect to CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Illinois Voluntary Cleanup Program, and other state and federal environmental laws.  He also advises clients with respect to products liability and toxic tort claims due to alleged exposure to a wide variety of manufactured substances.

Mr. Johnson’s litigation experience also includes representing food manufacturers in false advertising/products liability class action suits. In 2011, he held a research fellowship at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he published and spoke extensively on issues related to food safety and food products liability.

In addition to his environmental litigation work, Mr. Johnson routinely works with buyers, sellers, investment funds, and lenders to highlight and mitigate environmental risk in the context of corporate transactions, including asset and stock transactions, acquisition financing, and real property sales.
