Max A. Stein

I am a business litigator focused on meeting my clients’ business objectives, primarily by helping them resolve disputes that arise in the course of their activities. I represent clients as both plaintiffs and defendants in both federal and state courts, as well as before arbitration tribunals. Being at a smaller firm, I am able to offer my clients high-quality, nimble representation at reasonable rates. 

To aid my clients in achieving their business objectives, I regularly work to prepare cases for trial, and have significant trial experience. I also counsel my clients, helping them to identify and navigate legal risk to achieve their business goals and protect their competitive interests while managing and, where possible, avoiding the expense and uncertainty of litigation. These experiences have also provided the opportunity to understand and navigate the ever-changing landscape of electronic discovery, with a particular focus on identifying ways to minimze the need for (and cost of) that discovery. 

I have extensive experience with legal services organizations, having been on the boards of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law (where I am currently the Board chair) and the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law and having also partnered with both organizations in impact litigations.
