David was very understanding and easy to access even with my rather straightforward case, any time I felt the need to communicate with him I was able to immediately. Thanks to David M. Smith, I had never felt so confident going to trial. He was very knowledgeable about the process. He made me very comfortable and confident with his knowledge. His reputation didn’t fall short of what I expected. I was being charged for battery and I'm not the trouble making kind o...f guy, I’ve never been in this sort of situation before so this was my first time seeking a criminal lawyer. The first time I spoke to David, I explained my case and how the incident happened. He then explained to me the possible outcomes that could stem from the battery charge I was facing and how we would make our case. With the reputation he had I chose him to represent me. Before the trail started I was offered a plea deal to get a it reduced to “reckless misconduct”, David explained everything about how that works and told me it’s my choice if I want to take that or go to trial. I wasn’t sure then if I should settle for that because I didn’t want anything on my record for something that I wasn’t guilty for, I asked David if we could win this if I pass this deal he assured me he’s pretty confident we have a strong case. So I passed on the deal and went on with the trial. I was nervous at first because I was the one arrested because I got the better end of the brawl and the complainant had pictures to back that as evidence. David made those pictures irrelevant with his cross examination. I was fortunate to have witnesses to corroborate my story of the incident and prove I wasn’t the aggressor. My witnesses were also impressed with his skills as he explained the witness cross examination process to them. When David cross examined the complainant he made the complainant’s creditability fall into doubt with his questioning. I never had to say a word and didn’t even need to testify with how well the trail was proceeding on my behalf thanks to David. After all the testimonies the judged ruled NOT GUILTY in my favor. He kicked butt even the states attorney complimented him. With his knowledge, aggressiveness, and him looking out for what works to my best interest, I will definitely know who to call or refer when something like this happens to me or someone else in the future.
