Biography
James Hartmann is former Chicago and New York City prosecutor and trial attorney. Born and raised in the Chicagoland area, James attended the University of Kentucky on a full-tuition debate school scholarship followed by Notre Dame Law School. After graduating from Notre Dame, where he was also Head Coach of the University Debate Team, James was appointed a Cook County Assistant State's Attorney, practicing in the Civil Actions Bureau.
Following his time as an Assistant State's Attorney in Cook County, James took an appointment in New York City as an Assistant District Attorney at the Bronx County District Attorney's Office where he managed one of the largest criminal case loads in the city and routinely indicted serious felonies.
After years as a prosecutor in New York and Chicago, James returned home and founded The Law Office of James E. Hartmann LLC.
