Zach Hunsinger

Zach Hunsinger is a solo practitioner of law, non-profit consultant, and an assistant director of a non-profit program. He is a licensed attorney and social worker in Illinois, a VA accredited attorney, and has certificates in child law and non-profit program management and development. Zach works with individuals, non-profits, and small business owners from around the Chicago region to help them meet their legal needs and goals. 

Zach practices law in the areas of family law, divorce and child custody cases, adoption, public benefits, and special education. He counsels clients on the various aspects of divorce and paternity proceedings, including child custody, support, visitation, property division, and financial issues related to divorce. He also represents clients after divorce to make changes to divorce agreements. Zach can also help clients receive social security and service connected disability benefits. Further, Zach provides special education advocacy and representation. His success derives primarily from studying family and child law specifically at law school, including extensive trial advocacy courses, clinics, and placements throughout the world.  

His experience includes working in various parts of the world with refugees in southern Mexico at the United Nations, conducting field research about child domestic servitude in Tanzania, and assisting with representing high-risk youth in South Africa at the University of Pretoria's Child Law Centre. In fact, a case wherein he drafted a brief about triple jeopardy for students received a favorable opinion from the Constitutional Court of South Africa (USA's Supreme Court equivalent).  

In the United States, he also gained valuable experience at two of Chicago's premiere family law clinics: Loyola University's CivitasChildLaw Center and Northwestern'sBluhm Legal Clinic's Child and Family Justice Center.  

He also volunteers his legal skills at Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and at Illinois Legal Aid Online where he helps families in adoption, guardianship, and probate proceedings or provides general legal information.
