Great Immigration Attorney

Richard is extremely knowledgeable and his staff is very efficient and responsive. We had been denied approval because the immigration people lost one of our applications and we were not sure the best approach to solving this. We hired Richard Hanus to to help us and he represented us in resubmitti...ng all of the proper paperwork, prepared us and accompanied us for our interview at the immigration office and made sure we felt confident along the way, especially in maintaining communication with us through all steps and keeping the process as simple as possible. In a fairly short period, we were able to receive the green card for my wife. Also important to note, his legal fee was very reasonable.

Worth Every Penny!

This attorney does not mince words and that is what I like about him. He tells you like it is and does not give you false hope or make empty promises. When I first met him, he was upfront and told me that the only path to my legalization is getting married to a US Citizen. Once my long-term boyfri...end and I got married, we sought him out again and he worked on our case from start to finish. He filed my paperwork in record time and kept in touch with us throughout the entire process. When I got worried that it was taking too long for my interview to be scheduled, he took the time to call immigration and kept me informed. He was very responsive and I felt like he truly cared about my case. Once our interview date was set, he did an excellent job preparing us for the interview and when the day came- we felt at ease. Everything went smoothly and I had my green card in the mail within a week! For the speed, accuracy and peace of mind that we had- he is worth every penny.

There are lawyers, and then, there are GREAT LAWYERS!

I reached out to attorney Richard Hanus after receiving a denial in my adjustment of status case that would have resulted in a PERMANENT BAR to immigrating to the United States as a permanent resident... I had parted ways with an attorney with whom I was dissatisfied, and only fourteen calender days ...left to my appeal deadline. I was in DIRE NEED for a GREAT ATTORNEY. Thankfully, I stumbled upon an article about Mr. Hanus winning a case for a client at the 7th circuit court of appeal, after several denials, and many years of heavy litigation, for a similar charge. I called him right away... He gave me several avenues available to me, given the facts of my case, and suggested one he felt would have the best outcome. He proceeded to build an air tight defense with documentary evidence on my behalf, and then submitted the timely appeal to USCIS. Unfortunately, after a six month wait, my appeal was denied. Attorney Richard Hanus presented all the avenues available for me to pursue further action. As always, he suggested one he felt would have the best outcome for me, and then aggressively fought on my behalf. Meanwhile, my spouse landed a great job across the country, an opportunity we could not afford to miss. Unfortunately, moving from one jurisdiction to another is considered the worst possible thing to do when one has a pending adjustment of status case. At least this was the general sentiment among my immigrant friends in Chicago. Attorney Richard Hanus advised us to move, he urged me not to put my life on hold even in the face of the great uncertainty I was feeling due to my case. We moved, my spouse and I thought we were truly done for... Two weeks after making the possible worst decision for any individual with a pending case, moving jurisdictions, attorney Richard Hanus convinced USCIS to reverse the denial on my case. I received a letter to appear at a finger print appointment in Chicago in under a week. Attorney Richard Hanus contacted USCIS and had them re-issue a new order for me to appear at a location nearby my new residence, a very big problem averted in a timely manner. A day after my finger print appointment, I received a letter instructing my spouse and I to appear for a second interview. In a move to save us money, attorney Richard Hanus prepared us for the appointment via email and phone. Generally, it costs a fortune to hire a new attorney and/or having one travel across the country to represent a client at a hearing in person. Attorney Richard Hanus was confident that we would have a positive experience at the second interview appointment... The interview went well, and six weeks after the cross country move, I received a case update from DHS that my case was approved. I AM A NEWLY MINTED PERMANENT RESIDENT!!! Like I said at the beginning; there are lawyers, and then, there are GREAT LAWYERS. Attorney Richard Hanus is a GREAT LAWYER. At every turn along my journey to becoming a permanent resident, he presented well thought out possible avenues for further action, and specifically led me down the one he felt was best, given the facts of my case. He was always responsive and sensitive to the various anxiety provoking scenarios I encountered throughout the entire process. If you need legal help regarding an immigration case, please retain the services of attorney Richard Hanus. You will have a representative fighting for you at every turn, and making sure that all the possible avenues to reaching your desired goal are fully explored.

Do not recommend this lawyer

I visited Mr. Hanus’s office for a consult about my immigration case, and my first impression was that Mr. Hanus has a poor knowledge about the area of student visas and F1 status. I paid a fee for a lawyer who stated that he manages immigration matters; but he absolutely did not know how to manage m...atters in this area. I remembered he got an immigration book and started looking for answers. That situation did not upset me. I was upset for his unethical, sarcastic and unfriendly remarks about my case. Yes, I felt that Mr. Hanus was sarcastic about my case. I paid to look for answers and advices about my immigration status, but I was disappointed about Mr. Hanus unethical behavior. He is a lawyer who does not care for his clients.
