Accidents Happen

I've been a truck driver for, well, it's got to be about twenty five years now. Man time flies. Anyways, accidents happen constantly in my line or work. It's a dangerous business. Between cars attempting to race around you, and smashing into your trailer instead; to guys breaking bones and tearing li...gaments when unloading any number of products they may be transporting. Thing is, when you're in the thick of things, you just never think that something like that could happen to you, until it does. While making a late night delivery at one of the major grocery store chains in the Chicago area, a pallet fell on me while I was attempting to unload it from my truck. I was badly hurt and ended up having to have a fusion done in my neck, I had a left labral tear in my shoulder, and I ruptured three discs in my thoracic. This accident wasn't something I could walk away from without taking legal action. I heard about Michael through a buddy of mine and thought I'd give him a whirl. I've got to say, I'm glad that I did. Michael was honest with me from the beginning about the results I could expect from the type of case I presented him with. Any issues I had were addressed in a timely manner, and in a way that I could understand; which I greatly appreciated because frankly, I don't have the time or energy to sift through a lot of legal jargon. Basically Michael was an easy guy to communicate with and he took my case seriously which is why I got a settlement that met my expectations and gave me the closure I needed.

Great Referral

A couple of years ago I fell at a grocery store. I'd never been through the litigation process before and was nervous about finding an attorney I could trust. A friend referred me to Michael Shammas and I am so happy to report that a couple of months ago my case settled in my favor, which brought me ...to write this review. Being that I had never been through something like this before I had lots of questions and concerns, all of which Michael listened to with a patient ear and addressed with that same patience. He was very understanding of my apprehension and assured me he would be with me every step of the way. He not only followed through on that promise, but he always showed a meticulous and well-organized nature, something I greatly appreciate being someone who also operates this way in my daily life. I believe all of these qualities lead to the successful conclusion of my case. Many attorneys make promises that they cannot or do not intend to fulfill, but Mr. Shammas is not one of them. I hope I never have to go through a process like this one again, but should said circumstances arise I will definitely return to Michael.

Good Help Found

They say good help is hard to find. However, if the help you seek is that of a results oriented personal injury attorney, look no further than Michael Shammas. Let's face it, being in a situation where you need legal representation is never pleasant. It's stressful, time consuming, and emotionally dr...aining. If you have the right attorney however, at the very least, you should be able to come away from the incident with a sense of closure. In regards to my experience with Michael, he was able to settle my case for an amount that allowed me to pay off my medical bills and have a good chunk of pocket cash left over (which I partially used to pay off some lingering student loans). The results of my litigation were very positive, however, to me, that is only half of the story. The other half is the fact that throughout the time involved in completing my case, I was able to work with a professional, personable, honest, and organized attorney who did everything in his power to get me the most positive outcome possible. A favorable settlement is one thing, and working with someone you trust and get along with on a day to day basis is another. Fortunately for me, I had the best of both worlds. Michael was honest with me about what to expect from my case, he responded to any questions or concerns I had, he explained confusing aspects of the litigation process to me in a way that I could understand, and he was someone I very much enjoyed working with. Good help is hard to find, and that's why I decided to write this review.

Stay Away

I was hopeful Michael would be a good choice to handle our case. Unfortunately, it turned out not to be and I simply walked away with a lot of wasted time, several months in fact, and no progress whatsoever. But a bit of background info. We were involved in a car accident last year. Other driver ...was found liable. Insurance was negotiating in what I felt was bad faith. Started consulting attorneys. Shammas was quick to take our case, but once I signed the papers and submitted everything he asked for, he pretty much became a ghost. The guy seems nice enough, but the problem is that neither he nor his assistant ever seem to be available to answer any of your questions, and never bother to return any calls or reply to emails. And it's not just me. I found out through another insurer involved in the case that this attorney never bothered to call them back even after several attempts to reach him. Now, how can you trust someone who will not communicate? I understand a lawyer's time is valuable but in 5 months I spoke with him exactly twice. The first time when I hired him and the last time months later when I wanted an update on the case, only to be asked to resubmit all the documents I had already sent. Now you tell me this isn't a huge red flag that there is something not right here. I wish I had something positive to say about Michael and his firm, but my experience was poor to say the least. Now I'm left with having to find other counsel after months of non events with this one. What a waste of time.
