We got an audit letter from IRS on September 2013 regarding Schedule E for 2011 and 2012 Tax Year, Real Estate Loss after Passive Limitation. We were initially represented by a Tax Audit Defense agency. They have not done anything to defend us and disregard our research on the subject to allow such l...oss. On December 12, 2013, the agency met with IRS agent to go over examination report to demand us to pay $31,520 for 2011 and 2012 with a due date of 1/11/2014. We found Mr. Ellsworth by Google search and have read all his awesome reviews. On December 26, 2014 we signed the contract with him. On January 9, 2015 (exactly 2 weeks from the contract signed and 2 days prior to our due date to pay tax due), Mr. Ellsworth received a faxed examination report finding a REFUND of $925 on our 2011 tax return and NO CHANGE on 2012. On January 13, 2014, we received my copy sent directly by IRS. On March 13, 2014, we received a final approval review letter from IRS of these finding. What a big relief for us. My husband and I want to say 1 million thank you to Mr. Ellsworth for his dedication, his expertise and his professionalism to handle our case in a lightning speed (probably breaking the world record). We are very grateful for his help as it puts an ease to all our stress and anxieties imposed on our lives for several months since September 2013. When we first came to Mr. Ellsworth, we set our expectation low. We told him that our objective is to find a closure. If the tax law does not allow such deductions, we would like to be confirmed so we would never go there. However, if the tax law allows, of course, we don't want to miss opportunity to claim our loss where we are entitle to. We have shared our case with several families and close friends. My interactions started with John about 3 years ago and we have recently reached a resolution. I was audited by the IRS and they made accusations that would have resulted in large tax payments which I believed were unfounded and an error on their part; primarily to do with education expense deduction...s. I was a full time student at the time getting my MBA and I did some research in the Chicago area to find a well reviewed attorney and after speaking to 8-10 attorneys I reached John, who in ten minutes had asked more questions and given me more insight than the other attorneys combined. Knowledge & Honest Support: At the outset of my case it was clear to me John knew exactly what I was up against and how to best approach the situation. Further, he was honest about his thoughts as to whether I was right or wrong, and as a team they decided to fight my case because they truly believed what I had done was right. Knowing I had a legal team on my side in principal, not just because of the payday help put my mind at ease; I knew I was in good hands. 3. Fees: John's fees were very fair for the amount of work he and his team had to do. Further, when I paid the fee he communicated it covered me for a period of time and to resolution (with some caveats). Although my case lasted 3+ years, John never asked me to pay additional fees and stuck to the exact agreement we made at the outset which speaks to his character & ethical guidelines. Although I no longer live in Chicago, I will never consult another tax attorney before working with John and his team, I couldn't imagine another team operating better than they did, what a wonderful experience.
