Rachel Robert brings to Day & Robert, P.C. a legal career that spans over 18 years. In 1988 she graduated with distinction from Valparaiso University in Indiana while earning a BA in International Economics and Spanish. Rachel then graduated from the University of Denver College of Law in 1992, and was admitted to the Illinois bar that same year.
While working as an associate attorney at Hinshaw & Culbertson in Lisle, she focused her legal practice on employment law, medical malpractice defense and general insurance defense. She then joined Scott Day in his private practice in 1995, and thereafter formed Day & Robert, P.C. in 1998.
For the past 15 years, Rachel’s career focus has evolved into land acquisition, drafting and acquiring conservation and other land preservation easements, and eminent domain litigation. She has served as legal counsel on hundreds of voluntary and non-voluntary land and conservation easement acquisitions collectively involving thousands of acres of real estate throughout DuPage, Cook and the collar counties. In doing so, Rachel has advised numerous municipalities, park districts, preservation agencies and not-for-profit entities throughout Illinois. Over her career, Rachel has also gained extensive knowledge and experience in zoning and development matters, both at the trial court and appellate levels.
Rachel is an avid fan of the outdoors and enjoys running, hiking, doing triathlons and water skiing at her family’s Wisconsin lake cottage.

Successfully barred appraisal testimony valuing the property from $19,000,000 to $20,500,000. Jury verdict of $10,725,000, only $25,000 above lowest appraisal testimony submitted by FPD and $3,775,000 less than owner's trial testimony.
Assisted the Village of Itasca in the land acquisition and zoning and development approvals for the Village's new $35,000,000 state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant.
Represented the Naperville Park District in its $8,229,762 acquisition of +/- 20 acres of land in Naperville for the new Nike Park Sports Complex.
Trial court granted our motion to dismiss an 8-count complaint challenging the Village's zoning ordinance. Second District Appellate Court affirmed.
Under the threat of condemnation, negotiated and obtained compensation of $8,500,000 for the taking, plus additional relocation assistance in the amount of $3,000,000.
Represented the FPD in its $42,950,000 acquisition of approximately 600 acres of property in Warrenville/Winfield Township known as St. James Farm
Completed zoning entitlements including three phases of annexation, zoning and subdivision for the new EMHC York Street Campus.
