After a brief hospitalization, the pediatrician wrote a prescription for medication to be taken at home. The parents took the written prescription to a local retail pharmacy where the pharmacist dispensed a version of the prescription medication that contained different active ingredients than the intended medication. The dispensed prescription medication was never proven to be safe and effective and was never approved by the FDA for sale in the U.S. The active ingredients in the dispensed prescription medication caused the infant's death. I worked with multiple high-profile expert witnesses who were dedicated to the truth in the case, including a nationally recognized forensic toxicologist, forensic pathologist, pediatrician, pharmacist, FDA regulatory consultant and a psychologist specializing in family grief counseling. The case settled two months before trial.
