After a lengthy written objection was filed by the State in DuPage County, Illinois and and, as a result, a hearing on this Petition to Seal a 2004 conviction for aggravated arson resulting in a 9 year ... IDOC sentence plus 3 years MSR was had, the Judge found in my client's favor and granted his request for sealing. Not only were we able to show that the State filed its objection past the statutory deadline, but moreover, we confirmed the State's argument that the client was not eligible for sealing relief under the Illinois Criminal Identification Act was wrong and, finally, persuaded the Judge that the client was an ideal, deserving candidate for sealing relief under 20 ILCS 2630/5.2(d)(7). A huge win, and most importantly a client able to move forward towards his future goals and dreams!
