Bernard John Toussaint

Bernard J. Toussaint is founder and principal of Law Offices of Bernard J. Toussaint, P.C., a law firm in Oak Brook, Illinois, dedicated to helping its clients solve the legal challenges they face in their personal estate planning and business transactions.  For well over 30 years, Bernie has been a trusted legal advisor to families, business owners, entrepreneurs, commercial real estate investors, owners and developers, financial institutions and health care professionals throughout the greater Chicago Metropolitan area.

Bernie has engaged in the private practice of law since being admitted to the Illinois Bar in November 1983, after having earned his law degree at DePaul University in Chicago.  While at DePaul, Bernie served on the DePaul Law Review, where he wrote and published a casenote on the Double Jeopardy clause of the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Illinois Benedictine College (now Benedictine University) in 1980, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude, majoring in both History and Philosophy.

Bernie concentrates his practice on estate planning, probate, trust administration and business law including business succession planning.  He has built his practice by providing sound, sophisticated and sensible legal advice in a prompt, personal and efficient manner.  

In addition to his law practice, Bernie has been actively involved in several service, educational and community organizations.  He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Oak Brook since 1991, holding numerous positions including Club President.  He serves on the Board of Trustees for MacCormac College in Chicago.  He has previously served on the Board of Trustees for Benet Academy, a college preparatory high school in Lisle, Illinois, and on the Board of Trustees for the Green Hills Public Library District in Palos Hills, Illinois. 

Bernie’s business and professional affiliations include the Illinois State Bar Association, DuPage Estate Planning Council, WealthCounsel and The Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce.

Bernie enjoys spending time with his family.  He is an avid reader and an enthusiastic runner.
