Aaron

Jessica and her team of Paralegals were a pleasure to work with from my separation to the end of the divorce process. From the beginning, I was presented a clear range of considerations during mediation. Jessica was clear, concise and very supportive of the outcome I desired. She was an excellent adv...ocate during this delicate process and took her responsibility to advise me of the legal, custodial, financial, etc. ramifications of every decision I made whether she agreed with me or not. That is what a good attorney does. She was always respectful of what I desired, though, and did not “push” too hard for a particular outcome as long as she was certain I was making an informed decision. This made the process so much easier as my primary motivation was for the divorce process to be as amicable as possible. She consulted with our mediator and my ex-wife’s attorney and the outcome was as mutually accommodating to my ex and I as possible. Our primary concern was always our son and the custodial agreement has allowed him to adjust during this process as well as we could have hoped during a difficult time. I highly recommend Jessica and her outstanding team. She is an excellent attorney and will represent her client(s) with the utmost of professionalism.

Family and child support

I hired Jessica Malmquist to represent me when I filed for divorce in 2012. She quickly became my life line. My case was complicated as I had been married for 23 years and had 4 children from that marriage. I had been a stay at home Mom raising the kids and taking care of the home the entire time.... My husband was a physician with very controlling and narcissistic behavior. When I met with Jessica I was probably at one of the lowest points in my life not having family nearby and no where to go to feel secure and I was extremely afraid. Jessica took over and took care of everything and never let me down once. I needed to file and get an order of protection at the same time and she handled it all completely for me. My ex husband tried everything he could to set me up as an unfit parent and unfit homemaker and not give me funds to pay the bills being in contempt. and Jessica was always One step ahead and made sure all grounds were covered. She had my back and fought for me completely. It was a difficult case but she handled it fantastically and with grace and kindness. She is a loving and caring hunan being which is hard to find in most lawyers. See knows the law well and was completely organized. She always was reachable to answer all questions and guide me through a very difficult time. I would recommend her highly to anyone. She will not disappoint you and is truly the best out there.!!!

college expenses

When I hired this firm, I was expected the attorney who handled my divorce in 2008 to represent me again to file a motion for my 3 college bound kids in 2014. I had no idea how my case ended up with her. She did a terrible job, she only asked judge to order my ex to pay 1 kid college expenses when... I had 2 already in college at time, and one was in high school. When I questioning her at the court why judge only granted one kid but I was asking for all 3, she wouldn't let me talk and hurried me out of court room and whispered to me that we only took care one at time. I was pretty shock by her respond. After I returned home from Illinois. I emailed her about anything left from my retainer. OMG, She dried out my retainer and mailed me the detail of bills plus $130ish refund. My husband was furious her charge as he is an attorney himself, he believed the billings were ridiculous! There is no way I will hire her or her firm again. Two years later, I have to hire another attorney to clean up her messy work to get another court order to force my ex to also pay for my the other 2 kids college expenses. So I emailed her a few weeks ago asked for my documents. Her respond was I had to pay her hourly rate to get these documents back??? Seriously??? Enough is enough of her non senses. That was the time I decided to share my view and experiences with this attorney. I don't believe she was ever looked after my best interest but just a case she could milk.

We are sorry you feel you did not receive the divorce experience you desired. The matter as stated does not sound familiar and though we strive for complete client satisfaction in every case, this is not always possible. Should you wish to discuss any specific concerns please contact me directly.

Divorce

Jessica was very honest and realistic about the outcome of my case. She always tried to work towards a civil solution for all parties. She made it easy for me and I have an extremely hectic schedule as an airline pilot. In court she was well prepared and often made the opposition look inexperienced. ...Kind of funny to watch. The opposition was completely out the ordinary for what they wanted from me and we didn't back down. Also my situation was almost impossible. Being served divots paper gram a women with a little girl, with cancer, while I had a relationship with someone. It was an uphill battle. I started off looking like a terrible father/husband. By the end of the case the judge had called out my ex and inevitably disliked her. My ex tried to play off of her bad situation and make me out to be terrible. Jessica made the judge see right through that and see the truth. Even at the end of the case, financially I was strapped so she was flexible with the payment as far as options and it all worked out for the best. Thank you to Jessica fur all her work, but I hope to not have to work with her again.

The best for custody cases!

I was completely lost and very upset when I first came to Jessica. I had no idea everything that a custody case entailed and didn’t know what I wanted. She was great at walking me through everything though. It ended up being a much longer and more difficult process than anticipated, but every step... of the way Jessica was with me. I felt like she was completely on my side and my ally throughout the whole thing when I had very little support otherwise. She was honest and upfront with the things we could get and the things we couldn’t and was tough with me when she needed to be. She fought for things I didn’t even realize I needed because she understood my case and the situation and knew exactly what I wanted. Through it all, Jessica was patient with all of my inquiries and occasional venting, but always tried to keep me on track both financially and to focus on the main issues. It was a long, scary and exhausting process but Jessica brought me through for the better and I am so glad I had her guidance.

"I endorse this lawyer. I contacted Jessica based upon a referral from a college friend who works in Chicago. My client lives in New York but had been divorced in Illinois. Jessica was intelligent, professional and responsive to my inquiries and was clearly knowledgeable in the areas of divorce law, child support and jurisdiction. She was further able to provide insight into the common practices in the local Courts which cannot be found in law books. Thanks Jessica!"
