Brian Roffe

I started practicing patent law in May 1992 when hired by Steinberg & Raskin, a small New York City boutique firm practicing intellectual property law. Gradually, my responsibilities grew until I was responsible for maintaining patent prosecution docket including preparation and filing of patent applications in diverse fields, preparation and filing of responsive amendments, and conducting in-person interviews and appellate proceedings. Additional tasks included litigation support, opinion drafting and client development. In June 1999, I started a solo practice in suburban Long island, New York concentrating on developing patent portfolio for automotive technology development company. Soon, my practice grew by the addition of other clients in various manufacturing and development fields. In August 2010, I relocated to north suburban Chicago, maintaining the client base and further increasing patent docket for existing and new clients. During this time, I completed a Masters of Engineering degree at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), which entailed considerable coursework in electrical engineering and specialized patent monetization and intellectual property management. I am married with three children and currently seeking new clients and invention development opportunities. References available upon request.
