The plaintiff, a psychologist and single man, met the defendant, a single woman, at a party on a boat in Montrose Harbor in Chicago on July 3, 1996, to watch the Independence Day fireworks. The couple ... then dated for a month or so, travelling and eating out, and then broke up that same summer. The plaintiff sued the defendant for some of the expenses he incurred on those dates, claiming their relationship was a business matter and that the plainitff promised to pay him back. The jury found for the defendant.

Oak Brook Bank wanted to lease some of the space in Bob Horsely's building in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, for a new branch. Though some of the terms of the potential lease were agreed, the parties agreed th ... ey would not be bound to any lease until they signed a lease. The bank then announced that it would have to make major modifications to the building. Horsely's decided not to allow the modifications and terminate the negotiations for the lease. The bank wanted Horsely to continue negotiating. Whe he refused, the bank sued him for failing to negotiate in good faith. My motion to dismiss was granted in full.

In 1996, some of the children of Paul Butler sued to terminate early a trust created by Butler's will that owned half of the real estate occupied by Butler National Golf Course. I was appointed by the ... court to represent Butler's unborn descendents who might have an interest in that property if the trust remained in existance to 2011 as specified by the terms of the trust. My motion to dismiss the suit was granted.

I represented the decedent's wife in this appeal. The trial court had entered a directed finding against my client before she rested her case. She hired me about 55 days after the directed finding. ... I obtained special permission to appeal later than 30 days after the decision and the appellate court reversed.

At trial, after the plaintiff rested his case and before I called any witnesses, I moved for a directed finding in favor of my client on the grounds that the plain ... tiff had not proved contempt in his case. The court granted my motion and acquitted the defendant before he had to call any witnesses.
