It was my second time ever in court for tickets and fees I was trying to get removed from my driver's license. I'm currently in a situation that I'm working hard to get out of. I had to be at court at 9:05, but I was there a bit early. The attorney before court was in session wanted to speak with me ...and pulled me into an office outside the courtroom. He let me know he didn't have my best interest and wasn't there to fend for me. He then offered to bring my tickets and fees down from $7,570 to $3,300 and kept stating that he wouldn't be able to go any lower. I asked if I may speak with the judge before I accept or decline the offer. He told me she had no jurisdiction and that he could tell her that, I still wanna get to head me. She told me she had no jurisdiction over the case so her hands were tied. I was asked, what I wanted to do accept or decline but If declined I'd have to motion then back up into court. I thought I had no other choice but to take the offer. They tell me have a seat, he deals with other clients for awhile and then pulls me aside and asks once again what I wanted to do. I have no other choice but to accept, I don't have the money to pay for them to be motioned up or pay full price. Right after dealing with me, he dealt with another client of his and I overheard them speaking about this gentleman's case. Our case were so similar. The guy owed $7,000 and I $7,570. I was appalled and angry when I overheard Trevor tell the man he could get him as low as $1,500. Why wasn't I extended this offer as well. Trevor turned around looking as if he hoped I didn't overhear the conversation then turned as if he knew he messed up. Mind you the guy was an older white gentleman and I'm a younger black guy. Trevor proceeded into the court to finish paperwork I assume. I spoke with the gentleman and apologized for overhearing but I asked him about the offer and how much he peed and I told him about how much I owed. I said it wasn't right and the gentleman agreed. Our cases were different by only $570 and yet I get taken advantage of and disrespected. Trevor then comes out of the courtroom and try to have me the agreement and I told him I would like to talk again and he sighed as if he was annoyed with me. He told me to hold while he took care of that gentleman then lead me into that office and asked what I wanted to talk about. I told him I didn't understand why I was paying so much more than the gentleman when our cases were so close, he tried to say the clerk put some fees he didn't know or understand. I asked to see the paperwork with the fees and everything. He showed me my documents and the gentlemans and both times he tried to tell me that the gentleman didn't have those fees but he didn't and they were way more than mine. I told Trevor I wouldn't except the offer because it was not fair and I wasn't haven't that. I told him I knew what this was, I want gonna call it what it was but I knew Ave I want going to stand for it. I demanded to speak with the judge, clerk said she would be back til 1:30pm. I told her I'd wait, Trevor said smartly I won't be here. I have another court date coming soon and I will ask that something be done about this because I did nothing wrong to be treated this way. I'm just tryna make a better life for myself than what I have and I get this injustice.
