Outstanding Service/Outstanding Results

I was warned by friends and family early in my divorce journey “make sure you hire a good attorney”. With that said, I wish I had hired Katie years ago. To my own determent, and to the determent of children, my first attorney was terrible. I agreed to things that thought I “had” to agree to (despi...te having nearly 50/50 custody) that should have never been on paper. As my kids grew older and times changed, the financial burden of original divorce agreement became nearly crippling. My former spouse refused to negotiate outside of court and actually demanded MORE. I approached Katie with my original divorce agreement, and she evaluated it and all the substantial changes that had occurred over the years since the original agreement was filed. She built several arguments around the facts and made a case for a modification. This was not “homework free” on my end. She provided clear directions on actions that I had to take to further prove cohabitation and a modification of child support. Order modification cases can be messy and time consuming and mine was no exception. The fee structure at her firm was a relief…no nickel and diming me for calls and billable hours. For a lump sum, Katie her team stuck it out with me and were just as responsive on last day as they were on the first. At the end of the day, a strong case was made to end maintenance and modify child support. The facts were presented at pre-trail hearings. Soon after, my former spouse settled outside of court to nearly every one of my demands. This was a huge relief. If you’re looking to get your divorce right the first time, Katie is your person. If you’re look to modify your divorce….run, don’t walk ,to her office for a consultation.

Support Father's Rights

We won a child support/custody case that lasted over a year. Katie had very good knowledge and intuition during the whole case. We had to deal with a difficult opposing counsel claiming false allegations and demanding as much money as she can. Katie was able to layout and let me weigh the potentia...l options during each step. With her help, I felt we were ready and had a good grasp at all times during the case. My goal was to have a part in my daughter's life and have my rights protected as a father. Unfortunately the mother did not want me to be any part of my daughter's life. I was stuck when my baby was born because the mom didn't want me contacting her or anything. Katie listened to my situation and helped me come up with a game plan. We started the case and I was able to see my daughter for the first time. On the other hand, it was clear parenting and financials were going to be going to be a struggle to finalize with opposing council. Attorney fees are expensive in general and Katie let me take initiative on certain parts of the case that would save on costs. At moments I felt I needed to compromise a lot to see my daughter, but Katie was able to keep my belief in check and advise me the realistic options we have. With this advice, I was able to decide how much I wanted to compromise in effort to finish the case faster, yet hold our ground to protect my rights. With patience and good help from Katie, I felt we finally won when the case closed. I am satisfied with the finalized parenting agreement.

Child Support Modification / Back Child Support / Taxes

Katie was able to help me with my case which had several years of taxes and child support payments with ease. She took the time to explain the calculations, my options and gave terrific legal advice. Her friendly and professional demeanor eased my anxiety and made what would've been a painful process..., a learning one with positive results.

happy mom

I had a very hard case I was dealing with for quite sometime. We dealt with a visitation request and a reduction in child support from the NCP. It was a very difficult time in my life dealing with the case due to the NCP never being involved in my childs life and already dealing with a previous lawye...r who had no intentions on doing what was best for my child. Katie took charge right away; asked what my goals were for the case and listened to what I thought was best for the situation at hand and gave us some great advice! She kept us informed on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times a day, the rest of the law firm was involved also to give us the best service they could, she always gave great advice and opinions and different options on how the case would or could go and what would be in the best interest for my son. She just makes you feel like shes on your team and like she puts herself in your shoes to know what youre dealing with and going through. Katie is an excellent lawyer and I absolutely highly recommend her!
