It turned out t ... hat his Permanent Resident Card had expired two years prior because he failed to file an I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions, which is required when you obtain permanent residence through a marriage less than 2 years old. Rather than trying to file a waiver, which would take six months or more, I filed his Petition to Remove conditions knowing that the receipt notice would allow him to travel back to the United States. Thanks to my effective leveraging of the particulars of the case, the Petition was approved and my client is now a U.S. Citizen.
