Wonderful!

Julie was so nice to work with. She fully explained the divorce process and told me in our first meeting the likely outcome. She understood what was important to me and concentrated on my goals. When we had to go to court because my wife wouldn't cooperate, the judge always agreed with Julie becaus...e she understood the law and knew the facts.

Probably focused on the wrong goals

I always found it especially difficult to move things along with Julie, which, in some cases, may actually be a good thing, if your intention is to delay your divorce conclusion and wear your spouse down. I have to admit that I was confused by the way Julie handled the divorce at first, but trusted h...er as an attorney until I realized that she was really just a facilitator and did whatever I was asking for. That wasn’t always the right thing and I wish I would have had more advice than something that felt much more administrative. In some areas, there as a distinct lack of professionalism on her side; I am not quite sure why that is. There is an either unintended or intended lack of interest to understand matters and comprehend a net of facts. I felt that I often had to do the work she was supposed to do for her. She does like big works, but they feel out of place sometimes, especially in the court room. There is a very distinct stance of arrogance that was always on display that can play against you in court and it seemed that it put off the judge enough to rule against me. Her negotiation skills are largely based on the advice to say “no” in the hope to squeeze a bit more out of a deal, but she left me alone in the advanced stages of negotiation where “no” wasn’t cutting it anymore. For negotiating the monetary aspects of the divorce, you probably need someone else. I spent quite a bit of money with Julie and would have hoped to have been a bit more lucky with my choice as the lawyer choice really impacts what your family will be.

I am sorry that you were dissatisfied; however, I have no idea who you are so it's impossible for me to respond! I have represented one person named Walter and it was well over 12-15 years ago. He then came to me again for post decree matters so I can't imagine that this is who wrote the comment. In addition, I have not been practicing law in IL for the last eight months. If you would would like to email me to discuss this further, I would be happy to address your concerns.
