Lazy and a LIAR!

He's a liar! Doesn't return calls or follow through on things. Was referred to him and the place it a house out of a horror movie. He did mine and my oldest's 2016 taxes. Weeks went by and I wasn't able to track mine and it kept saying nothing found. Would call him and he just blamed the IRS. I final...ly called the IRS and they told me it was rejected. Told Phil, he would find out, but yet never called me back to tell me what was going on. After numerous calls I made myself to the IRS I found out mine was rejected due to info he entered on line 5 of my oldest's return, he marked her as NOT being able to be claimed by anyone else. I told him and he said he fixed it before he submitted it so there's no way. Mind you, a few months have gone by and I still did not receive copies of anything he "changed" before he submitted it. He eventually took my oldest off my return and filed mine again and filed an amendment to add my oldest. He told me he got the email from the IRS saying they received the amendment and for him to not call them on it! Oh and that he sent me a copy of the amendment. Ummmm what?!? They wouldn't say that! Asked for that email, never got it forwarded. Fast forward to Nov 2017, still no copies of anything received from him, no money (rem bal of what I should have originally got refunded versuses what I got after he filed w/o my oldest listed as a dependent) & no returned calls. I left a kind of rude message (after leaving plenty of nice ones) and wow a call back. He gave me attitude saying what he sent me got returned due to me no longer living there. He NEVER called me to get my new address now mind you! I told him I moved in July 2017 & he was to send that stuff to me months before that!! He then was trying to rush off the phone and I asked him what was going on with my amendment cause the IRS shows nothing of the sort. He had the nerve to ask me what he's supposed to do about it?? I told him fix this! He tells me he did nothing wrg, blamed the IRS & he can't just call the IRS to talk about someone else's taxes, the person (me) would need to file out some form (can't remember which one) giving him permission to talk to them about my return THAT HE FILED! I told him that's bs, his response he's been doing this for 20+ yrs and he knows. I told him well I've done my own taxes before and gone elsewhere for at least 20 yrs and NEVER had this happen EVER! Needless to say I ended up hanging up on him after a few choice words. Gave him my new address on 11/16/17, it's now 1/19/18, still nothing!! Anyways, I called another tax prep place, explained things and was told to get transcripts of mine and my oldest's 2016 tax returns before they could help me. I did on 1/8/18, got them and low and behold he DEFINITELY put the wrg amt on line 5 of my kids fed return!! He's been lying to me this whole time, never even looked at what he actually did, and never sent my copies of anything! That explains why he never sent the copies now!! Plus while I was trying to figure all this out, my sister, who referred me, found out he never filed her 2015 return!!! She got the same run around and lies that he would fix it, which he never did. After a few times of her not getting something in the mail from him and calling about that, she finally got what she needed so SHE could fix it, he refused to fix it himself...are you kidding me?!?!? It's one thing to mess something up, we are human it happens, but to refuse to be accountable for your work, continually blame the IRS cause it's the government and they do what they want and then lie for close to a year about it, unacceptable. STAY AWAY, DO NOT USE HIM for your tax prep. I tried to save money as a single mom but will end up spending what I would have and NOT had this headache. I don't appreciate liars!

Poor experience

I paid Phil to do my 2007 taxes and when I called the IRS and the State of Illinois, they had no record of either for 2007. Phil did not answer his business phone at the Law office. I finally had to go to the office and get copies from his girlfriend and re file the taxes myself.
