We hired attorney Joel M. Weiner (Delray Legal Services) to provide legal representation for a 70-year-old client in Okeechobee County civil litigation (Case No. 472025CA000071CAAXMX). Despite being retained for this matter, Mr. Weiner abruptly withdrew as counsel immediately prior to a crucial heari...ng. This sudden withdrawal placed an indigent, elderly client at an extreme disadvantage, forcing her to appear before the court unrepresented against opposing counsel. Under Florida Bar rules, withdrawing in a manner that creates material adverse effects for a client is a serious matter. Before retaining him, we were unaware of his background in public regulatory databases. Public FINRA records show that in 2016, Mr. Weiner was permanently barred from the financial and securities industry following findings regarding undisclosed outside business activities and finder's fees. Furthermore, Florida Sunbiz records show Delray Legal Services, LLC filed for voluntary dissolution in late 2024. In my direct experience, the abrupt departure left our case in severe distress. I strongly urge anyone considering hiring him to review all court dockets and public regulatory filings before signing an agreement or paying a retainer."
