Charles Jeffrey Thut

C. Jeffrey ("Jeff”) Thut was licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois in 1984. Since leaving the office of the Cook County State’s Attorney in 1986, his practice has concentrated in civil litigation in Lake County, Illinois. In addition to Lake County, Jeff has successfully tried cases to juries seated in Cook, McHenry, DuPage, Kane, and Will Counties in Illinois. All told, Attorney Thut has tried in excess of twenty-five jury trials and countless bench trials and administrative hearings throughout Illinois. In addition to the Illinois State Bar, Jeff is a member of the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He has represented clients in Federal Courts in Wisconsin, Texas and New York.

Jeff has extensive Appellate litigation experience. He has argued cases before the Illinois Supreme Court as well as the Illinois Appellate Courts of the First, Second, and Third Districts. Mr. Thut’s appellate litigation experience encompasses construction, zoning and annexation, breach of contract, and negligence cases. In addition to representing individuals injured by the negligence of others, Jeff has represented numerous businesses and individuals who have become embroiled in commercial disputes. He has represented construction companies, franchisees and franchisors alike, real estate developers, accountants, and even other attorneys in every type of commercial dispute imaginable.

Jeffrey Thut is a graduate of Illinois State University and the Valparaiso University College of Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Lake County Bar Association and is active within his community. He resides in Kildeer, Illinois with his wife Kelly and their five children.
