Dad (my client) took temporary possession of child when Mom was charged with DWI. Dad was to keep the child until Mom could "get back on her feet." Mom eventually demanded that Dad return the child, ... but Dad still had concerns about Mom's substance abuse. The case went to a hearing and the judge granted Dad primary custody and gave Mom limited visitation.
OUTCOME: Dad received primary custody of kids
Wife took kids and moved in with boyfriend in another county. Wife then filed for divorce seeking primary custody of the kids. We countered seeking primary custody for Dad (my client). Ms. Hill refused to open the door for the poli ... ce. The police officers then obtained a warrant and broke down Ms. Hill's door to enter the house and then arrested Ms. Hill on a substance abuse charge. Mr. LaFleur filed a motion to suppress the evidence seized by the illegal entry into Ms. Hill's home. The prosecutor eventually conceded the case and filed a motion to dismiss all charges,
OUTCOME: Jury Verdict of Not Guilty.
Mr. Alvarado was pulled over by a DPS trooper for speeding (40 mph over the limit) on the George Bush Turnpike. The trooper found an open bottle of tequila in the truck. The trooper asked Mr. Alvarad ... o to perform field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, the trooper concluded that Mr. Alvarado had failed them and placed him under arrest. At jury trial, Mr. LaFleur demonstrated that the trooper failed to explain the field sobriety tests to Mr. Alvarado correctly. As a result, the jury found Mr. Alvarado not guilty.
