Simple Estate Plan for Client with Adult Children
Jan 01, 2016OUTCOME: executed estate plan; satisfied client
This is an example of a fairly common situation that arises in my practice. A client had two adult children who were doing well financially and who got along perfectly fine. The client had roughly $2 ... 50,000 in assets, so estate taxes were not a concern. The client and I suspected that a "simple Will" and naming the children as beneficiary of assets would be appropriate, but still discussed other options to make sure the client was making an informed decision. The client was able to discuss matters with me over the phone, then come in a few days later for a 15 minute meeting to sign the documents, and the total cost was right around $300.
