They also want to skirt the law which explicitly allows doctors to delegate the performance of certain treatment and scare them into delegating less, thus forcing less billing. Dr. Bloom was targeted to send a message to the entire medical community that if doctors do not toe the line drawn by insurance companies, a line which prevents patients from getting the care they need, the doctors will be attacked as "frauds". The accusation alone is enough to destroy a doctor's reputation and the insurance companies rely on the fear of the accusation being made to curtail billing by doctors.

A 35 year old woman on her way to work on a cold December morning was stopped on a two lane highway with her left turn signal on waiting to turn left when a company vehicle smashed into the rear of her ... van, pushing it into oncoming traffic where it was broad-sided by an SUV traveling in the opposite direction. The woman miraculously survived but suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple other injuries in the crash and was rendered unable to work as a result. My job as her lawyer was to communicate to the insurance company for the company whose employee caused the crash the devastating injuries my client had suffered and the entirely different life she would have to live for the next 50 years as a disabled person.
