He is a member of State Bar Association of North Dakota, Minnesota State Bar Association, , North Dakota Defense Lawyers Association, Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association, American Board of Trial Advocates, and Greater Grand Forks County Bar Association. He is a former member of the International Society of Barristers, Defense Research Institute, International Association of Defense Counsel, The National Trial Lawyers, the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, Association of Defense Trial Lawyers, Claim and Litigation Management. He has served on the National Association of Legal Assistants Certifying Board and the Advanced Paralegal Certification Board. He is also a member of the North Dakota Board of Law Examiners and has served on other local civic boards. He and his wife are also former foster parents.
