Priscila Janjua is an associate attorney at SW&L Attorneys, specializing in Family Law. Since joining the firm in 2022, she has been committed to guiding clients through a wide range of domestic matters, including custody, visitation, contested and uncontested divorces, contempt cases, predicate orders, adoptions, and name changes. Fluent in Spanish, Priscila has a unique ability to assist the Hispanic community, particularly individuals with limited or no English proficiency.

Professional History

After her first year of law school, Priscila was a summer judicial extern in Bismarck at the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota. She worked in the chambers of Judge Daniel L. Hovland, Judge Daniel M. Traynor, and Magistrate Judge Clare R. Hochhalter. By her second year, Priscila interned at a family law firm in Grand Forks, where she worked for a year and a half until her graduation in May of 2022. Priscila then joined SW&L Attorneys in the summer of 2022. 

Education History

Priscila earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Social Science at the University of Manitoba. Priscila then attended the University of North Dakota School of Law, where she served on numerous student counsil boards such as President and Helen Hamilton Day Coordinator of the Law Women’s Caucus; Third Year Representative of the Student Bar Association; Executive Officer of the Criminal Law Association; and Deputy Prime Minister of the Canadian Law Student Society.

As President of the Law Women’s Caucus, Priscila led the organization to receive the 2022 “UND Student Organization of the Year” award out of 205 student organizations across the University of North Dakota. Priscila also received several personal awards throughout law school, including the highest grade in Trial Advocacy (Spring 2021) and highest grade in Immigration Law (Spring 2022). In her third year of law school, Priscila received two leadership awards in recognition of her service: the “Lillian Elsigna Outstanding Student Leader Award” and the “Class of 2022 Outstanding Law Student Leader Award.” Additionally, Priscila was a Finalist in the 2022 Carrigan Cup mock trial competition.

Personal Background

Priscila was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Her parents immigrated to Canada from Chile as children and met in Winnipeg as young adults through the love of soccer. Growing up, she embraced her cultural heritage by engaging in Chilean folkloric dance and becoming fluent in Spanish. Soccer played a significant role in her life, as she participated in competitive play for nearly a decade, instilling in her the values of dedication, hard work, and teamwork. As the first in her family to graduate from university, Priscila was determined to become an attorney. To pursue this goal, she worked tirelessly, juggling two jobs throughout her teenage and adult years, even while attending law school. One of her longstanding roles was as a Supervisor at L.A. Dance Academy, where she honed her work ethic, organizational abilities, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills. Simultaneously, she held various office and retail positions. Beyond her professional pursuits, Priscila finds joy in outdoor activities such as camping and spending time by the lake, often enjoying these moments with her very large family.
