Jeffrey Sprout

Jeffrey Sprout is a seasoned trial lawyer whose practice focuses on employment law and criminal defense. He brings a disciplined, courtroom‑ready approach to every case, shaped by years of experience in both state and federal courts across North Dakota and beyond. Known for his precision, judgment, and command of the record, Jeff represents clients facing high‑stakes disputes with clarity and resolve.

Jeff’s legal career is grounded in an exceptional academic and judicial foundation. He earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of North Dakota School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. During law school, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Alice R. Senechal, United States Magistrate Judge for the District of North Dakota, and as Symposium Editor of the North Dakota Law Review.

Following graduation, Jeff clerked for the Honorable Jon J. Jensen, Chief Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court, gaining firsthand experience in appellate decision‑making and jurisprudence. He then clerked for the Honorable Peter D. Welte of the United States District Court for the District of North Dakota, where he worked on complex federal criminal and civil matters. These clerkships continue to inform Jeff’s strategic approach to litigation, particularly in matters involving procedural rigor and appellate preservation.

Jeff earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science, with a minor in Psychology, from North Dakota State University. Prior to entering the legal profession, he served for eight years as a firefighter with the City of Fargo. That experience instilled a deep sense of public service, accountability, and calm under pressure—qualities that continue to define his work as an attorney. Before joining the firm, Jeff practiced at another Fargo-based law firm, representing clients in a broad range of litigation matters.
