Biography
Jason's practice centers on real estate, creditor/debtor matters, contract disputes, criminal defense, and general litigation. He's the indigent defense attorney for Richland, Dickey, and LaMoure Counties. Jason is also the Public Defender for the City of Wahpeton.
Jason grew up in Jamestown, North Dakota. He received a B.A. in political science and history from the University of Jamestown in 1994. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, Jason moved to Arizona where he taught high school social studies for five years. Thereafter, Jason returned to North Dakota to attend the University of North Dakota School of Law, and he received his J.D. in 2003. While in law school, Jason spent two summers clerking for the Honorable Richard Grosz, Judge of the District Court in Wahpeton. Following law school, Jason joined the firm and is now a partner of Smith, Strege, Fredericksen & Butts, Ltd.
Jason, his wife, Janel, and their two boys reside in Breckenridge, Minnesota.
