Although I have handled literally thousands of cases in my career, I am very proud of my involvement in this case. I was personally ticketed for a parking violation outside of the Ottawa County Courth ... ouse in Port Clinton, Ohio--the ticket was for a "yellow curb" violation. The payout on the ticket was only $20 but the City of Port Clinton, in contravention of Ohio law, did not provide any means to appeal a civil citation. Moreover, the local ordinance provided a criminal penalty for failing to pay the citation within 30 days. Our office sued the City for, among other reasons, violating the due process clauses of the United States and Ohio Constitutions.
