About me

Morrie is an experienced trial lawyer with broad experience in a variety of areas, from the handling of cases involving personal injury and defective products to cases of professional negligence by doctors and lawyers to agricultural related disputes. He has tried cases in state and federal courts throughout the states of Minnesota and North Dakota and has successfully argued a number of cases before the Minnesota Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.

Morrie is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and is a Board Certified Specialist in Civil Trial Law. He is also a member of the Minnesota Association for Justice, American Association for Justice, and Academy of Civil Trial Specialists.  He is a diplomat of the American Board of Trial Advocates and has been selected as a leading attorney in Minnesota by the American Research Institute, was recognized as one of Minnesota's top personal injury and malpractice lawyers by Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine, and every year is designated as "Super Lawyer" by Minnesota Law & Politics.  Morrie has also lectured at continuing legal education seminars on trial practice.

Morrie was born and raised in Detroit Lakes, and graduated summa cum laude from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, in 1970. After college, he was a student at Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, for two years. In 1973, he entered the University of Minnesota Law School and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1976. Morrie began with Pemberton Law in Fergus Falls in 1976. He is licensed to practice in the states of Minnesota and North Dakota, is admitted to the United States District Court for districts of Minnesota and North Dakota, and is admitted to practice before the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Morrie has a wide range of interests outside of the practice of law and formerly was a member of a variety of boards. He was a long-time board member and president of Operation Bootstrap Africa, an organization that raises money to construct schools in Africa, and is a current member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  Personally, he enjoys woodworking, outdoor activities, maintains a tree farm, and is a beekeeper. Morrie and his wife, Marion, a public health nurse, have raised three sons and one daughter in Fergus Falls.
