As a partner at Hellmuth & Johnson and a member of the firm's information technology and e-commerce practice group, Kate Andresen brings well-honed business and legal experience to clients ranging from start-up technology companies to Fortune 50 corporations. She practices primarily in the following areas:
In addition to assisting her clients with their technology licensing and other transactional needs, Kate has focused her practice on representation of regulated entities subject to Federal privacy regulations such as HIPAA and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.
Prior to attending law school, Kate was a systems engineer who designed and coded software applications. Consequently, she is able to understand clients' technology at a level of detail that provides depth in her assessment of both the business and legal considerations for the technology license.
“My technology background is an asset in much of the work I do for clients, but it’s my broader combination of business and legal experience that really makes headway in difficult situations,” says Kate. “Being able not only to see transactional issues from both perspectives, but having the ability to explain those issues to parties who only know one or the other side of the equation enables me to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.”
