Seth Andrew Northrop

I am a trial lawyer who leverages his background in business, technology, and the law to solve his clients’ most complicated problems. Prior to attending law school, I worked as a systems and software engineer for numerous semiconductor and software companies—including the successful company I co-founded. In doing so, I worked side-by-side with electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers along with business-leaders to bring cutting-edge projects to market. That experience helps me understand the intersection between business and technology.

As a trial lawyer, I focus my practice on large-scale disputes involving a variety of technologies. As a long-time former speech and debate coach, I enjoy the challenge of presenting highly complex technologies, issues, and disputes to a variety of different audiences through a number of different mediums.

As an intellectual property trial lawyer, I have helped clients defend against claims of infringement and monetize intellectual property portfolios (copyright, trademark, and patent) focusing on ROI through targeted business-focused campaigns.

I continue to have a working knowledge in various programming and software development environments including: PHP, MySQL®, C++, and Objective C. This experience helps me tackle complex software disputes. Likewise, my working knowledge of various Information Technology (IT) technologies, including BSD, Linux, Solaris®, and WinTel server administration; Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) design, topology, security, and administration; database, web, and mail server administration; Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) deployment; and security prepare me to handle clients' most difficult issues related to Information Technology, sourcing, and technology-based legal disputes.

I have also dedicated a significant amount of my practice to environmental advocacy and the prevention of family and domestic violence.
