You won’t find many patent attorneys who can juggle fire. For Mark, who has drafted hundreds of patent applications during the past decade, juggling fire is a relaxing hobby. His grace under pressure and multitasking skill is evident in both his startling productivity and his full head of hair (his eyebrows grew back in fairly quickly).
A partner of Dicke, Billig and Czaja, PLLC, Mark brings extensive patent management experience to clients in a broad range of industries. He focuses his practice on patent prosecution, opinions, appeals, and related business transactions. He has been named by his peers as a Rising Star in the legal community.
Mark brings a high level of versatility to his work. Fields in which he has significant experience include electronic, electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and process technologies. Mark has expertise in semiconductors, electrical, computer hardware and software, memory devices, telecommunications, medical devices, and business method technologies.
Mark worked his way through law school while continuing to work full time as an engineer. Although this proved a challenge, particularly with his family growing at the same time, Mark is quick to point out how beneficial it has been to his practice of intellectual property law. His engineering experience provided him with the depth of technical understanding and appreciation of real world applications which his clients appreciate today. As a field service representative at UNICO he traveled extensively throughout the United States and internationally to troubleshoot, repair, and set up drives and control systems used in the automotive, canning, and paper industries. At Cooper Power Systems he designed, programmed, installed, maintained, updated, and modified control systems and software for the manufacturing and testing of power transformers and regulators.
Always eager to share what he’s learned with others, Mark is a frequent contributor to DBC’s blog, , for which he provides news regarding recent changes in intellectual property law, along with practice tips for other attorneys.
Outside the office, in addition to fire-juggling Mark enjoys traveling and camping with his wife, two daughters, and son, and hanging out in the backyard with the neighbors. An avid trumpet player, Mark has played for churches, at weddings, and in community bands.
