Matthew Landon Bonniwell

Matt is a born and raised Minnesota man. He grew up in the Twin cities, went to college in Washington State and returned home to begin his professional career. He began his career in the financial services industry helping people with their retirement finances. He continued working full-time and pursued his passion for the law attending Hamline Law School on nights and weekends. After graduating law school Matt continued to work in the financial services sector, but his passion for the law drew him to become a District Attorney.

Matt moved to New Mexico in 2017 to become a District Attorney. While there he fought passionately for those who have been wronged. Matt handled 1st , 2nd ,3rd , and 4th degree felonies and has extensive trial experience. He enjoyed advocating for and making a difference in the lives of those wronged but wanted to be closer his family in Minnesota.

Matt and his wife returned home to Minnesota in 2019. Upon returning home Matt joined Smith, Paulson, O’Donnell, & Erickson, where he fights fervently for the needs of his clients. Matt’s areas of practice are Worker’s Compensation, Labor and Employment Law, Civil Litigation, and Criminal Law. If you need help in any of these areas, Matt would love to fight for you.

Matt is not all business. In his free time he likes to spend time with his family, hunt, fish, camp, and golf. In New Mexico he and his wife camped all over the southern Rockies. He went Elk Hunting in the Gila National Forest and fished the Rio Grande. Now that he is back in Minnesota he and his dog Rocky plan to chase pheasant and ducks every fall.
