Terrible

We are so disappointed in this law firm and we were clients (I read the disclosure from the law firm on another negative review and none of what Kneiss law states on there is at all accurate. We would dispute every single bullet point that they claim. We completely agree, unfortunately, with the nega...tive review) and put down our hard earned money to retain them. After an initial meeting that bolstered our confidence, everything after that was unacceptable. The communication was abhorrent: we would go weeks without hearing ANYTHING about our case and when I complained, we were given excuse after excuse why they hadnt responded. Everything from a lawyer quit unexpectedly to they had family in town for the holidays. We were promised our case would be scheduled in December and as of today (february), nothing is scheduled. And yet, our retainer is 99% gone. They only responded when I reached out to them and even then there was no consistency in how soon they would reply (could be 2 days could be never). It was so bad they actually gave us a discount, which was appreciated, HOWEVER, we racked up all the money they discounted in emails still begging to get some information. Many unnecessary and costly emails later literally begging to get some communication and updates on our case and we are no closer to resolving our case than when we hired them months ago. Please save your money and go with another law firm that gives you the attention you deserve.

We are sorry that you had a bad experience. We invite you to contact the firm to discuss any concerns you have. In general, we do not make promises about when we will "schedule" a case. Cases do not simply get "scheduled." Depending upon what needs to happen in a case, "scheduling" a case depends on more than just a lawyer's availability. It depends on Court availability (if applicable), client ability, opposing party availability, opposing counsel availability, and a third party neutral's availability (if applicable). Because so much of "scheduling" is beyond our control, we cannot and do not make promises about the speed of a case. If there are billing concerns, clients are to contact the firm with the specific charges in dispute so that a satisfactory resolution can be reached. Finally, clients are informed when an event is occurring on their case. When there is nothing to report, the firm attempts to save the client's fees and avoid unnecessary communication with the client. Again, we encourage clients with concerns to reach out to the firm so that we can match expectations with the realities of a family law proceeding.

Awful

I would never reccomend this lawyer unless you have money to burn. We were very disappointed. Benefit of the doubt, maybe she was super busy and shouldn't have taken the case... regardless, errors on paperwork, wanting payments without supplying billing statements unless repeatedly asked for, being... unprepared, lack of follow through and etc.. I'm not trying to insult her, just laying out some of the facts and dissatisfaction we felt with our particular case.

Due to ethical and confidentiality constraints, we cannot comment specifically on this review. However, we offer the following points to anyone reading this: 1. Consider that an anonymous review may not be from an actual client or former client. 2. Our firm takes great care to produce quality work and we are always fully-prepared for Court appearances and other events on cases. 3. Invoices are submitted to all clients, every month. We do not seek payment without an invoice. If clients want another copy of their invoice, or want a copy forwarded to a third party, we oblige. Our billing and collection policy is clearly spelled out in our Fee Agreement, and we follow it. 4. Our firm does not represent multiple parties in the same proceeding. We only represent individual clients, and only communicate with those clients regarding the case unless specifically authorized to communicate with third parties. 5. We frequently review the status of all files to ensure they are proceeding appropriately. 6. We always encourage clients to bring any concern directly to us so that we can appropriately address it. We strive to maintain client satisfaction, while educating clients on what they can reasonably expect in terms of a timeline and an outcome for their case. 7. We communicate with clients about ways to accomplish their goals as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. This includes consulting with clients on various strategies that can be pursued, and the relative cost potential of different options.

Excellent family law attorney

This review is long over due. I met Michelle in 2009 while she was an associate attorney at another firm. My divorce was very tricky and was a "perfect storm" of unfortunate events. I learned so much through the process and I think Michelle did too. I NEEDED an advocate that would be able to change m...y "game". Michelle and the firm she was with did that. Michelle is smart, thorough, compassionate, and patient. 2009-10 was a life changing time for me and thanks to Michelle & her team, it was a positive change. Life in 2015 is full of blessings and MK is one of the members of "Team J" that worked feverishly in 09-10 that made today's blessings possible. If you are in need of a family law attorney, reach out to Michelle, you will not be disappointed.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
