Walter George Lehmann

Walter G. Lehmann is managing partner of Lehmann PLC (formerly Lehmann Strobel PC). With over 25 years of experience as an attorney and business consultant, Lehmann has represented independent producers, artists, and writers, as well as museums and arts and cultural organizations of all kinds. He has served on the board of directors of numerous arts-related nonprofits, including the Landis Valley Museum Associates and the North Museum of Natural History and Science, where he also served as interim Curator of Collections. Lehmann was also a member of the Walters Art Museum Collections Committee. He is currently a board member of The M and the Friends of The M.

A regular contributor to scholarly and industry publications, Lehmann is a co-author of Rights and Reproductions: The Handbook for Cultural Institutions (Roman & Littlefield 2018) and the author of Museum Administration: Law and Practice (Independently Published, 2020). Lehmann is also a frequent participant in conferences, workshops and other arts-related presentations and programs. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses on art and museum law and ethics at Johns Hopkins University, George Washington University, Mitchell Hamline Law School, and Case Western Reserve Law School. Lehmann has been on the faculty of the ABA ¬continuing legal education course "Legal Issues in Museum Administration" and served as Co-Chair of the ABA ¬IPL Copyright Policy Committee. Lehmann recently completed the Appraisal Institute of America's Comprehensive Appraisal Studies Program and is USPAP compliant through February 2023.
