OUTCOME: Medicaid decision overturned, client saved $250,000.

Client had applied for Medicaid prior to meeting with my office. Medicaid approved the qualification, but instituted a penalty period due to improper transfer of assets. The penalty period was 44 mon ... ths equating to potentially over $300,000 in long term care fees. I appealed the decision on behalf of the client arguing the transfers were not improper. It took several months and many discussions with Job and Family Services and the state hearing officer to reduce the penalty period to 7 months, saving my clients $250,000.
