Jessica Ann Hafemeyer

Working with Jessica was one of the most frustrating legal experiences I’ve ever been part of. We hired her to handle a divorce on behalf of my uncle—an elderly man with cancer and cognitive decline—after his spouse exploited him financially. Jessica’s handling of the case was negligent, disorganized..., and frankly, disrespectful. She missed court-ordered deadlines. She filed documents with blatant factual errors that we—not she—had to catch. She ignored repeated requests for updates, strategy, or basic clarity. Emails would go unanswered for days or weeks. Evidence of forgery and financial abuse was brushed aside with condescending comments like “divorces take time” or accusations that we “just wanted to punish” the other party. Jessica refused to work collaboratively with our family, even after written authorization was given. She billed over $6,400 for a few templated filings, generic correspondence, and multiple instances of clerical work charged at full attorney rates. She billed us for a meeting that was explicitly promised to be free—and then delivered no meaningful value in it. Worst of all, she left us completely unprepared for court. No strategy. No prep. No follow-up. We had to fire her and start over with a new attorney, who made more progress in two weeks than Jessica did in three months. If you are looking for a lawyer who listens, communicates, meets deadlines, or actually advocates for your case—look elsewhere. Jessica Hafemeyer caused our family unnecessary stress, wasted our time and money, and failed to uphold even the most basic standard of competent legal representation.

To get me to put down a retainer she told me my case was an easy case and the opposing council would be easy to get passed. During my hearing, she failed to represent the facts that I had presented to her. She did things as she wanted them to be done, and spent the majority of her time rewriting what... I had already done to increase her fee. DO NOT HIRE HER.

We hired Jessica to represent us in requesting an increase in parenting time. She was condescending throughout, always in a rush and did not listen to our concerns. She also did not utilize over half of our supporting documentation to support these concerns. She was not prepared and did not argue our... case in the Court room. We would've been better off representing ourselves.

If I could give her a -10 stars, I would! Jessica is extremely unprofessional - and I'M the one who hired her to work for ME! She was impatient, answered my questions as if they were stupid questions, and angry with my wanting to understand the process better. I fired her halfway through the process... and couldn't have been happier. Go elsewhere - FAST!

I hired her for my custody case. I walked out of the courtroom with less time then I started. Now my child is paying the price while I have to pay the check. I always felt rushed, she made me feel my points were invalid. My case could not have gotten handled more poorly. She was not very prepared ...durning court. Just do your research especially when it comes to your child. Your child is more then a case number.
