Mark J. Gherty

I am a Certified Civil Trial Specialist, certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. I am proud of my AV rating by Martindale Hubbell.  I have established a reputation as an agressive and innovative trial lawyer.  I have been  been successful in both the criminal and civil arenas, practicing in many of the counties of Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.  I have handled cases in the United States District Courts of Wisconsin and Minnesota and I am admitted to practice before The Supreme Court of the United States.

I am an experienced lecturer, having made presentations for the Wisconsin Associations of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers, State Bar of Wsiconsin, Wisconsin State Public Defender and the University of Wsiconsin - Law School.

I have been interviewed by Wisconsin Public Radio, Minnesota Public Radio, WCCO Channel 4, WCCO 830 Radio, and KMSP Fox 9.  A 1997 wrongful death trial was featured in MPLS / St. Paul Magazine and CBS News 48 Hours.

I believe in strong community involvement and have served on several boards for various organizations, locally and statewide. .

I have paricipated in the American Birkebeiner since 1983 and I am an avid in-line skate racer.

I have handled cases in Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Brown, Buffalo, Burnett, Chippewa, Clark, Dane, Door, Dunn, Eau Claire, Jackson, Juneau, LaCrosse, Onieda, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, St. Croix, Sheboygan, and Trempealeau Counties, and before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
