Detained Immigrant Granted Permanent Residence and Released from Custody

Client was detained by ICE and placed in removal proceedings. Shortly after being retained, counsel filed a motion for custody redetermination seeking the client's release from detention. While the mot ... ion was pending, intervening legal developments established that the client was subject to mandatory detention, resulting in the denial of bond relief. Despite the client's continued detention, representation focused on obtaining permanent immigration status through adjustment of status before the Immigration Court. Counsel conducted multiple detention visits, prepared and filed the adjustment application, coordinated the required immigration medical examination, and addressed a complex medical admissibility issue that arose during the proceedings. After obtaining updated medical documentation and resolving the admissibility concern, counsel presented the case for adjudication before the Immigration Judge. The Immigration Judge approved the adjustment application and granted lawful permanent resident status.
