I was pulled over in Portage WI late at night from a long drive to SD to drop off my step son. Weary from the road, but not wavering, a cop pulled me over for not having a front plate on my '95 collector. Watch out. These guys aren't looking to protect, they are on the attack with the sole purpose o...f getting tickets, not busting drunk drivers. Anyway, I had one beer at a rest stop just prior. Got field sobriety, passed it well. Got blow test, blew at .01, yea .01 not .1. They arrested me anyway. I refused the blood test but was taking in and forced it out of me anyway. I was facing two counts, OWI and for refusing blood test. Both carry about the same penalty! If charged, my next 5 years would have carried an extra $300 a month in high risk insurance and the next year I would not have been able to take my family on any visits with others or vacations. I called 3 other attorneys and none of them had every gotten someone off from refusing a blood test. Patrick was the fourth and he had experience doing it! It was all dropped to "inattentive driving" and a $250 fine. Well I guess you gotta throw the dogs a bone. Praise God for Patrick for protecting me and my family!
