David A. Payne

David A. Payne, founder and Principal of Trademarkwise LLC, has practiced intellectual property law for more than ten years, and has handled over one thousand U.S. and international trademark, copyright, and intellectual property matters for clients around the world.  David's experience includes U.S. and international trademark and copyright clearance, prosecution, registration, licensing, litigation, dispute resolution, and client counseling.  Prior to founding Trademarkwise, David practiced trademark, copyright, and patent law with the intellectual property firms of Casimir Jones, SC and Medlen & Carroll, LLP.  David is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law and the University of Michigan, and is admitted to the State Bar of Wisconsin.  A native of Toledo, Ohio, David also lived in California, Colorado, Michigan, and New York before settling down in Madison, Wisconsin with his wife and two sons.  When not solving legal problems for his clients or spending time with his family, David enjoys the live music scene in Madison and his occasional stints as a lead vocalist for several local bands.
