Jeff James Bowen

Jeff J. Bowen is a partner at Burns Bowen Bair LLP. He has successfully pursued insurance money for policyholders under all types of policies for more than ten years. He has wide experience with complex litigation, arbitrations, and negotiations, helping clients achieve their insurance recovery goals with thoughtfulness, creativity, and tenacity.

Jeff founded Burns Bowen Bair LLP along with the close-knit Madison insurance team that has recovered more than $1 billion for policyholders over the past decade. Prior to Burns Bowen Bair, Jeff was a partner in the insurance recovery group at Perkins Coie. He has lectured and written widely on insurance and litigation issues and maintains an active pro bono practice.

Jeff works closely with plaintiffs’ lawyers pursuing insurance recovery from defendants, helping to settle underlying litigation through the use of insurance funds or through the assignment and pursuit of insurance recovery rights. Jeff also represents large corporations in high stakes insurance disputes arising out of derivative and shareholder litigation, as well as non-profit groups, religious organizations, and individual investors in collecting on the insurance they purchased.

After graduating from Yale Law School, Jeff clerked on the Ninth Circuit for Judge Sidney R. Thomas and on the Eleventh Circuit for Judge Rosemary Barkett. He is currently an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School
