In January, 2015, I retired from state service, after 24 years as a prosecuting attorney for the Medical Examining Board, and am now practicing as a solo practitioner. This move allows me to concentrate on doing some things that I really have a passion for. First, I hope to consult with physicians, especially those treating chronic pain, to help them comply with regulatory requirements and achieve best practices in this area. I am able to review protocols, forms and representative charts, and provide input to help minimize the chances of having complaints made, as well as successfully counter any that are made. Second, I hope to reach more physicians with my one hour CME talk: "Legal and Ethical Prescribing of Controlled Substances, or, How Not to Meet Me, Professionally!" I am available to give this lecture to clinic staff, as a grand rounds presentation or to professional society meetings. Unfortunately, not all complaints can be predicted or forestalled. When they do occur, whether with regard to prescribing, quality of care or any other aspect of professional practice, I am prepared to provide advice and representation in any regulatory or criminal investigation.

"I worked with Arthur on a health care professional licensing matter. He is definitely the "go-to guy" in this area of the law. He previously worked for the state government as an attorney in this field and he has a wealth of knowledge about the relevant policies and procedures."
"I have dealt with Arthur Thexton for many years, when he was a prosecutor for the Wis. Dept. of Regulation and Licensing, nka DSPS, and I was defending health care professionals in discipline and licensing matters. Arthur was always contrite with me, and a bottom-line guy who tried to do his job in a fair manner. He is a font of wisdom on regulatory and Medical and other professional board procedures. Since he retired from state service, I have had the opportunity of working with him as co-counsel on several matters since then, and his knowledge and analysis have been most helpful to me and my clients."
