Virginia Ellen George

Virginia E. George primarily concentrates her practice in bankruptcy and insolvency matters. Ms. George has served as a receiver in state and federal court and has represented a national lender in its Special Assets Division. Due to her level of professional excellence, she has been granted an AV Preeminent® 5.0/5.0 and Judicial AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, which is the highest peer rating standard. She is seasoned in effectively executing strategies that grant her clients their desired outcome, in the most complex of cases. Some of her notable outcomes include collecting a 20-million-dollar Petroleum Environmental Clean-up Fund Act portfolio and winning the largest punitive damage verdict in state history for bank fraud/lender liability. Most recently, she successfully negotiated and won approval of the sale of “The Bull Golf Course” and ITO Industries, in her role as Chapter 7 Trustee.

Attorney Virginia E. George graduated from The University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1985, with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. Following college, she attended Marquette University Law School, where she received the America Jurisprudence Award and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 1988.

Attorney Virginia E. George is a current board member of the Wisconsin Network of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation and serves as its membership chair and 2023 IWIRC on Ice conference chair. She is also the newly elected 2023 Milwaukee Programming Co-Chair of the Turnaround Management Association Chicago/ Midwest Chapter. She is a past two-term board member of the Bankruptcy Insolvency and Creditor’s Rights Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. She is also an active member of NABT, ABI, IWIRC and TMA, and the Milwaukee and 7th Circuit Bar Associations. She regularly presents at conferences on various bankruptcy topics.
