Mark A. Schoenfeldt

I hired Mark after consulting with several otber attorneys about my OWI-3rd offense. They all told me that due to the seriousness of the charges, the best they could do is to try for a lower sentence through a plea, and it would be a longshot to have it reduced to a lesser charge, much less dropped. ...Due to the unique facts of my case, I thought there was some hope of a more favorable outcome rather than mandatory jail time and a ton of hassles for the next few years. But the lot of them told me this state and especially Milwaukee county did not make such arrangements because of the strictly enforced drinking laws that had been recently amped up. I saw Mark first and I was instantly hopeful when he saw this to be a case worth fighting. As I (embarrassingly) explained to him the facts of the case I could see the wheels in his head turning as he approached it from an analytical angle and immediately started forming a strategy. I left feeling better than when I arrived but I wanted to do my due diligence and shop around. So I scheduled 3 more meetings with attorneys in the Greater Milwaukee area, expecting them to react similarly, but I was wrong. Each one told me I'd be lucky to get a plea out of it because the laws on drinking in this state were black and white, and only in extremely rare cases were charges above 2nd OWI reduced to a lesser offense. Mark not only was more savvy than the others, he had more tenacity to go after it to win. Through meetings and negotiations with numerous ADAs and who knows how many hours put into developing the right action plan over the course of a year, in the end he was able to have the judge DISMISS ALL CHARGES without prejudice, leaving me with no penalties or punishment for what would have otherwise resulted in mandatory jail time even in the best outcome! I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer. He's down-to-earth, pragmatic, and tenacious, but also realistic and will give it to you straight. Even after repeated setbacks and some really huge blows, he keeps fighting til the job's done. He undercommits and overdelivers. With Mark you'll get someone who roots for the underdog and will go beyond what most attorneys do if he sees you're serious about fighting.
