John's practice emphasizes corporate/business receivership, bankruptcy and creditors' rights law; commercial and condominium real estate lending and development; and general business representation.  John has been appointed by courts throughout Wisconsin to operate and ultimately sell or liquidate troubled businesses.  During these troubled economic times, most of John's practice is devoted to receivership and Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases; however, in better times, he also spends a significant portion of his time representing lenders and real estate developers.  Additionally, John represents a wide variety of small and mid-sized businesses.

John was appointed as receiver for the Wisconsin Funeral Trust at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Justice on behalf of the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions.  For mroe information, see .

There are a few attorneys who serve as receivers in Wisconsin.  Each does a fine job; however, John differentiates his receivership service in a few ways:

● Creativity.  One size does not fit all.  There is a great temptation to handle every case the same way; however, not every business or entity is the same.  Having served as receiver for large and  small entities, manufacturers, service companies, securities trusts, leasing companies, contractors and a variety of other entities, John customizes the process for efficiency and to maximize value.  

● Business Experience.  John's diverse business and real estate background allows him to bring a different perspective to his cases.  He is not just a litigator or bankruptcy lawyer.  Although he has significant experience in both those areas, he has closed over $2 billion of loans and has represented many business and real estate clients. John also is a part owner of several small businesses.  He brings a practical, business approach to his cases.

● Hands On.  Although John works with an experienced group of lawyers and paraprofessionals to efficiently and effectively handle his cases, he is actively involved in each of his cases.

● Service.  John believes that service is important.  He promptly returns calls and emails from lenders, lawyers and management.
